Job Overview:
An estimator is responsible for estimating the cost of planned projects in terms of labor, equipment, and materials required. An estimator must be able to provide accurate estimates for projects by researching and analyzing important metrics. Your knowledge of costs and benefits will help support profitable business decisions. They are also expected to be thorough, have an analytical mindset, and excellent numerical skills. An estimator should also be able to manage relationships with the client throughout this process. The goal is to provide detailed reports so that the company can make informed decisions to enhance profitability and overall company growth.
Job Duties:
- Understand the project and its requirements.
- Determine key variables for costs and other estimates.
- Gather first-hand information from sites/clients.
- Conduct research to obtain data on labor costs, materials, and equipment.
- Use software for data analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
- Obtain and view offers and quotes.
- Perform risk analysis. (Financial, technical, and operational risks)
- Create and submit estimate reports to appropriate personnel.
- Provide consultation on planning.
- Visiting project sites to gather information.
- Staying aware of the latest technologies.
- Keeping up to date with the latest regulatory and legislative requirements.
- Establish and maintain rapport with new and current suppliers.
Job Requirements:
- 5 years’ experience in low voltage and electrical work.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suites and technology skills.
- Travel as needed to make bids.
- Knowledge in estimating software.
